Cable Care

Information supplied by David Haney (Zendrum)

Something that you should be aware of is the preventive care of your MIDI cable and jack. You should ALWAYS wrap the ends of the MIDI cable around the straplock before plugging in for a strain relief (like a Guitarist or Bassist would) and the other end around something like a rack handle before you connect to the power/mergebox, and if possible, Velcro mount the mergebox inside a rack.

I've seen some of the Zendrum mounted internal MIDI harnesses get loose from everyone in the band stepping on the cable as you move about. Most of us are drummers and haven't had to think about mobility before, but luckily the problem has been dealt with by stringed instrumentalists and can be easily implemented by us. It's always a very good idea to have a spare MIDI cable on hand as it is the most exposed and vulnerable component in the chain. If you'd like a 15 or 45 foot spare, you can order more from Zendrum here.
