10 Tips To Start Zendrumming

Starting tips for a new Zendrummer:

1 - Loosen up and have fun.

2 - Put your hands where you like them and change the Midi notes at those pads to be your most used notes (bass/snare?) The idea is to be comfortable. Move notes you play together next to each other.

3 - Loosen up and have fun.

4 - realize you can strike with the heel of your palm as well as fingertip - play like congas, not just tapping.

5 - Loosen up and have fun.

6 - Accuracy in pad striking will come with time, don't worry if its messy right now.

7 - Loosen up and have fun.

8 - Change the Midi notes on the Zendrum for midi standard drum locations - don't change note assignments at the module level until afterwards kit by kit. This way, your snare pad will always be your snare pad no matter what kit you choose on the module. I've put a chart of standard midi drum notes up to help.

9 - Loosen up and have fun.

10 - Get a sysex backup of everything before you go wacky.

Thats my top 10. Oh, and don't forget to loosen up and have fun.
